Russell Peters is an Indo-Canadian comedian who has taken the entertainment and comedy industry by storm. Before Peters got his start in comedy he was known as DJ Russell, and he worked at the campus radio station at Sheridan College. Peters started in comedy with his first performance at Yuk Yuk’s comedy club in Toronto.  Peters began performing in comedy clubs in the early 90s, and cited meeting George Carlin in 1992 as one of the biggest motivators for advancing his career in comedy.

Peters gained his recognition following his first appearance on the CBC show Comics. Soon after, Peters traveled to the United Kingdom where he would appear on the CTV’s comedy series Comedy Now. He would return a few years later and receive a Gemini Award, leading to his establishment as a viral sensation.
